Callaway Eclipse GPS has a clip tab on each end, which looks like a good spot to attach a wristband, but it is actually for the belt clip that comes with the main unit.

Either end can be used to attach the included belt clip. When the clip is attached, the overall dimension measures at 4.25” H x 3” W x 1.75” D, and it weighs 2.8oz.

The screen is only 1.28” producing 128 x 128 pixels resolution. Powered by rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the Eclipse can stay run for about 10 – 12 hours on a single charge, which takes only 2 – 3 hours long.

It is also 1 ATM waterproofed. It has 4 buttons: Power, Up, Down, and OK/Enter. Power button is on the left sitting just about the charging port. The other three buttons are placed on the right side.

Golf Features

More than 30,000 golf courses worldwide are preloaded. The default main screen is time display, but you can access the golf functions by pressing and holding OK button.

The screen can display four views for golfing features including Green View, Hazard View, Shot Distance, and Scorecard; you can switch between each mode by pressing the OK button.

On the Play Mode, Eclipse will automatically acquire satellite connections and list the closest golf courses to your location. You can use the Up and Down buttons to select the correct course and begin playing.

The main screen on play mode is Green View which displays distances to the center, front, and back of green relative to your exact location. Hole number, par score, battery, and time indicators are also displayed on top and bottom corners of the screen.

Pressing the OK button takes you to the Hazard View to see up to 3 hazards per screen, but you can scroll up and down as well.

Shot Distance

The next feature is Shot Distance measurement. On this mode, pressing the Down button will trigger the function. As you walk to the ball, the Eclipse will calculate the distance you travelled.

Scorecard feature is also available which lists some data including hole number, par score, score, putts, and GIR. Another good thing is that the Eclipse recognizes the current hole you are playing.

As you travel from Green to the next tee box, it will automatically advanced the hole number. You can also do this manually by pressing Up button.

Additional Features

In additions to golf-focused functions, Eclipse GPS by Callaway has Odometer feature which can be activated even before you start playing.

You also get satellite-based time and date adjustments, alarm, user-adjustable backlight timeout, 4 different languages, and yard/meter measurement unit options.

The Callaway Eclipse GPS is available right out of the box without any subscription or annual fee involved.
