GPSync Watch by Callaway looks like any normal digital timepiece at a glance. It has a grayscale 1.28-inch square face that produces 128 x 128 pixels resolution.
The rubber band is 10.25-inch long, and the overall unit weighs 2.24 oz. Powered by a rechargeable 220mAh Lithium Ion Polymer battery, it stays on for about 10 to 12 hours on GPS mode and up to 90 days in watch mode.
It is also water resistant to 1 ATM (withstand pressures equivalent to a depth of 10 meters underwater). There are 4 buttons and a charging port on the watch.
Power button is on the left above the charging port and the other 3 buttons are on the right side; two of those are for scrolling up and down and another functions as Enter button.
One of the best things is that it comes preloaded with more than 30,000 golf courses worldwide, and Callaway provides a support center that accepts mapping request in case any you come across any course which has undergone recent changes, but have not been mapped yet by the company.
Once turned on, the watch will automatically search for satellite connection and list five nearest courses to your location. You can use up and down button to select the proper course and press Enter.
The default screen displays distances to the center, front, and back of green along with a hole number, par score, and battery level indicator.
Switching from the default Green View to Hazard View is done by pressing the Enter button. It displays up to 3 hazards at a time, but you can scroll up and down if there are more hazards.
Another good feature is shot distance, which can be accessed by pressing the Enter button once again from Hazard View. After making a shot, press the Down button to start measuring.
GPSync Watch measures the distance that you travel as you walk towards the ball. Press the Down button once again to reset. In the Scorecard screen, the watch displays data including hole number, current score, putt, and GIR.
Furthermore, it can function as Odometer, but you need to activate this feature on the Main Menu.
Callaway GPSync is compatible with Android 4.4 or later and iPhone 4S or newer. With the companion app (GPSync App) installed on your phone, the watch will be able to receive notifications from your phone for text messages, missed calls, email, etc.
When paired with Bluetooth, this watch will automatically upload saved scorecard to the app. Bluetooth connections work best when the paired smartphone is within 30 feet far.
When the phone goes out of range, the watch will disconnect, but it will automatically reconnect when your smartphone is within range again. In additions, the watch also offers four languages, alarm clock, daylight saving time, and backlight.
