Standard Pedometer and More

It has all standard features of a smart pedometer (sometimes also known as daily activity tracker) including distance, calories, pace, and personal records measurement. Calorie computation based on heart rate is also available, but it only activates when you are using a compatible accessory.

The summary of all measurements above will be displayed when you complete a run and save the statistics. The watch will even notice you in case you achieve any personal record. There is an auto lap function, which basically provides indicators such as flashing backlit and beeping sound, as you complete a mile.

It doesn’t have advanced features from other running watches in the series, but you still have at least Virtual Pacer function. When activated, it will compare your actual pace in a run with the targeted one.

Optional Accessories

The available accessories include a foot pod and heart rate monitor. Forerunner 15 is actually designed for outdoor activities to measure distance, pace, and time. To do this, you have to activate the GPS function.

Nonetheless, the optional foot pod allows you to use the same type of measurement even you are training indoor, such as running on a treadmill. The heart rate monitor accessory for calorie computation can be purchased separately, but some versions of Forerunner 15 are already bundled with this accessory.

Available Variants

Forerunner 15 is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which lasts for up to 5 weeks (watch mode/activity tracking mode) or 8 hours when GPS function is enabled.

Water rating is 5 ATM, meaning you can use it safely even when you are swimming or in other water sport activities.

There are 5 color variants available including Black/Blue, Red/Black, Black/Green, Teal/White, and Violet/White. Each color has two versions; one is without the heart rate monitor accessory, while another is bundled with it.

There are two different sizes provided; the Black/Blue and Red/Black is slightly bigger than other color variants. However, each watch has the same display size which is 55 x 32 pixels resolution. The smaller size weighs 1.3 oz, while the larger version weighs 1.5 oz.

Online Community

The Garmin Connect feature is available in Forerunner 15 too. It allows you to connect and upload your statistics to the online community.

Detailed information is provided in Garmin Connect such your running route or map and daily summary. You can even share your records with other users.

The availability of online challenges and virtual badges are good additions as well. Forerunner 15 is compatible with Windows operating system (Windows XP or later) and Mac OS X 10.4 or newer.
